A growth in small yacht and superyacht arrivals will further increase investment and development opportunities for Fiji’s tourism industry.
This, according to the final draft of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation 10-year National Sustainable Tourism Framework (NSTF).
Compiled by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, the NTSF articulates the strategic direction of the tourism sector from 2024 to 2034, providing a blueprint for Fijians to develop and benefit from the country’s tourism resources.
“Another area with potential to develop into a high-end niche segment for Fiji is yachting. Although a seasonal market, the growth in small yacht and superyacht arrivals will further increase opportunities for investment and development of the segment,” it said.
“It also assists in spreading the benefits of tourism to nontraditional tourism regions.
“Similarly, expedition cruise ships offer opportunities for tourism dispersal to less visited regions, without the environmental impact of larger cruise ships.”
The NSTF will lay out a policy direction, with the high-level framework accompanied by an initial three-year Action Plan (2024-2027) focused on the continued tourism recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, mitigating future economic shocks and striving for sustainable growth.
