Windsurfing returns to Fiji

The organisers of the International Windsurfer Class Association (IWCA) Oceania Championship 2023 are looking to make it an annual event in Fiji.

Fiji Yachting Association (FYA) president Shayne Brodie said this in a statement on the three-day event at Natadola last weekend.

Drua Experience in Fiji Keeps Traditional Sailing Alive

The Fijian drua or double-hulled canoes were the finest sea-going vessels ever designed and built by the natives of Oceania. Today, they are precious exhibits across museums in Fiji, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The only one that is sailing is berthed at the Vuda Marina in Lautoka, Fiji, where Alison Newell, a New Zealander, is keeping the art of traditional sailing alive.

He was an icon in the yachting community and his contributions to Fiji Yachting will always be remembered.

The 2023 Auckland to Fiji Race has been cancelled

The 2023 Auckland to Fiji Race has been cancelled. The Royal Akarana Yacht Club (RAYC) announced the cancellation on their website on May 18, 2023. The race was scheduled to start on June 3, 2023.

Interest growing in Port Denarau

Port Denarau Marina Chief Executive Cynthia Rasch says more businesses are showing interest in operating on the marina premises.

She says this includes new shopping centers and other types of businesses.

Million dollar capital project for Port Denarau to resume soon to allow larger vessels

All systems GO for 2023 Auckland Fiji Yacht Race

In just over a month’s time, a fleet of enthusiastic cruisers and racers will line up for the start of the 2023 edition of the Auckland Fiji Race, hosted by Royal Akarana Yacht Club. There are two starts catering for a variety of boats with the first happening at 1300 hours on Thursday 1 June for cruisers and Division 2 race yachts, followed by Division 1 starting at 1300 hours on Saturday 3rd June.
